Can Violence Achieve Peace??? (Part 1/3)

What is peace??? According to Baruch Spinoza, “Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence, justice”.Violence, on the other hand, is the use of physical force against a person or other living thing causing injury or damage. In the light of the above, I ask you the question, Can violence achieve peace?

In my opinion, achieving peace through violence is an impossible task. This is because forcing one through violence, to gain peace, might be a physical gain but it will not help to achieve the tranquility of the heart, the condition which matters the most. These words by Carlos Santana explain my thoughts better,“Peace has never come from dropping bombs. Real peace comes from enlightenment and educating people to behave more in a divine manner”. Peace is on everyone’s mind, but do we truly understand the depth of the meaning of this word?

To be continued...
